My name is Dawson Gorman and I am 21 years old. I was born in Kamloops, British Columbia and I have lived my whole life in Kamloops so far. I attended K-7 at Lloyd George Elementary School and 8-12 at South Kamloops Secondary School. I was in French Immersion throughout my entire education so am lucky enough to be fluent in French and have my DELF B1 certification. I started off my education at TRU in sciences but later switched to sociology and geography. After three years at TRU, I am now in the Bachelor of Education program. I currently work at a doggy daycare in down as I am a huge animal lover, especially of dogs. I have two family dogs whom I love taking for walks and hikes all around Kamloops. I love spending time with my family and friends as I am very socially motivated and love being with people all the time.  When I was younger, the sports I mostly played were soccer and volleyball. During the winter, I love to go skiing at Sun Peaks where I have had a seasons pass since I was five years old. In the summer, I enjoy going to my family cabin at Canim Lake and wake surfing as much as I can. I have never lived outside of Kamloops but hope to have experience teaching in different parts of the world when I become a teacher.

I have not always wanted to be a teacher my whole life but the past few years, there is not anything else I have wanted to do. I was fortunate enough to do lot of volunteering at my old elementary school of Lloyd George and was able to immerse myself back into the French immersion classroom. Spending this time with the students truly affirmed by passion for teaching and realizing that is what I wanted to do. I have also had amazing teachers throughout my education all the way from K-12 through university as well that have shaped who I am today. I hope to have that same effect on my future students and support them in every way possible. I feel that being a teacher is an incredibly important role in today’s society and I feel very fortunate to be on this journey in becoming an educator.
